Family Support

CFS Prevention Program: Our Mission

To strengthen families by utilizing community and personal support systems which contribute to the well-being of families and their children.

What is Prevention?

  • Support services to prevent children from coming into care
  • To reduce the risk of trauma that can be affected by neglect and abuse
  • To create a support system that prevents and works at a micro and macro level
  • The support system can be immediate working with at risk families, or one that works towards something where long term outcome is achievable (community development)

Prevention Program Goals

  • To build capacity at the agency level to promote the best practices and community driven services
  • Enhance planning options to youth so they could successfully achieve independence as adults
  • Ensure children and families live in a stable and safe environment by providing services in the community to keep children in their homes and community rather than coming into care
